Welcome
Business and Community
The University of Northern Iowa's mission includes
sharing its expertise with communities and organizations. UNI's outreach
programs serve 13,000 communities and businesses, mostly in Iowa, with
solutions to educational problems, environmental challenges and economic
development issues.
Since November 2000, UNI's College of Business Administration's Business
and Community Services has served the Iowa economy by:* Assisting 430
communities in local development efforts
* Serving 3,200 business clients
* Assisting 32,000 employees and community volunteers in all 99 counties
* Training 500 incumbent workers - 40% received pay increases or new skills
* Conducting over 200 training workshops, serving 3,500 business professionals
and 45 businesses
UNI's Metal Casting Center is working with companies in the Midwest to
provide assistance in training employees, solving casting problems and
conducting assessment audits for production and energy efficiencies. The
center updates a consortium of foundries to use solid modeling for solidication
analysis purposes.
In turn, the university depends on the support of the community and businesses
to enhance students' education through internships, job training and financial
support. The University of Northern Iowa Foundation welcomes the opportunity
to enlist support for UNI students - the future workers and citizens of
Iowa and the world. Together, we can supply the resources that will put
our "Students First" as they seek the best in higher education,
and as they take up the responsibilities of work, family and community.
