2000 Athletic Fund Drive boosts scholarships

The 2000 Athletic Fund Drive raised more than $1,001,125 toward annual scholarship support for UNI student-athletes, according to Sloane Tyler, director for athletic development.

"This very successful drive is the result of strong internal leadership from the new athletic director, Rick Hartzell, selfless dedication from our volunteers, and the great generosity of our donors," Tyler notes. She also cites the commitment and merit of UNI student-athletes.

Full scholarship funding for all student-athletes participating in scholarship sports would total $1,562,000.

"Our donors are primarily Cedar Valley residents with an intense interest in and loyalty to UNI athletics and our student-athletes," Tyler says. Membership in the Athletic Club stands at 2,217, with couples and families considered one member.
