Gradys Give $650,000 to UNI Campaign

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Junean Witham Grady '66 and Tim Grady '65 of Port St Lucie, Florida, have made a $650,000 estate gift to the University of Northern Iowa’s Imagine the Impact Campaign.  The majority of the gift will benefit Panther athletics through the VIP (Vesting in the Panthers) Fund. The Fund supports the areas of scholarships, program enhancements and athletic infrastructure.

A portion of the gift, $30,000, will support the Camp Adventure program, which provides summer recreation programs for dependent youth at U.S. Military installations, U.S. embassies, corporate clubs, international schools and in special programs all over the world. Witham Grady was a counselor with Camp Adventure while completing her graduate work at UNI.

"We are grateful to Junean and Tim for their generosity,” said President Benjamin Allen. “They have been friends and supporters of UNI for more than 30 years. We are pleased to know this estate gift will continue their legacy.”

Tim Grady said, “We think it is important today, more than ever, to support places we cherish. We have enjoyed financial success and want to give back to charities and organizations that have positively influenced our lives, such as UNI.  I received a scholarship while attending UNI so I know how important financial assistance can be. We want to give young people opportunities that they might not otherwise have.”

While living in the Cedar Valley, Witham Grady was active as a community volunteer.  She served as president of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Junior League, was a member of the UNI Alumni Association Board of Directors, served on the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Board, UNI athletic advisory board and numerous other community volunteer organizations.

Bill Calhoun, vice president of University Advancement, said, “We are honored that Junean and Tim have made provisions in their estate plans to include UNI. Their foresight and generosity will allow us to move forward with our mission to impact lives far into the future.”

The Gradys’ gift is part of the $150 million Imagine the Impact Campaign for the University of Northern Iowa. The campaign focuses on scholarships, faculty and program support. For more information, visit www.uni-foundation.org.
